Ashra is a Technology Driven Company focusing on Indian Customers' Filtration needs in the Industrial
and Engine Market Segments including Compressed Air Purification, Heavy Trucks, Off road and
Industrial Equipment.

Ashra Technical Background
Ashra was promoted by Mr. R. V. Ramachandran in 1981. He felt the need for a company which would
design, test and produce filtration products and enhance product life during service.
Mr. R. V. Ramachandran, besides managing several companies such as Cummins as their Chairman and
Managing Director, has provided strategies on management, India entry and setup,
Life cycle cost reduction
and Lean Management Strategies to many large companies.
Ashra was set up after visiting and studying design and manufacturing techniques at Air Maze Inc.,
Donaldson Inc., Fleetguard Inc., Dominic Hunter Plc., Parker Hannifin Inc., and many other leading
Filtration Product manufacturers

History
1982 - Ashra supplies filters to only one Company - Cummins
1983 - Introduces ‘Posi-Sep’ Pleat Separation Technology in India for ‘Cummins Construction Equipment
Engines’. This design enhances ‘Filter Life’
1987 - Ashra begins development of Air, Oil, fuel filters for ALLWYN NISSAN Ltd.
1988 - Ashra begins development of Air Oil Separators and filters for Ingersoll Rand
1989 - Ashra supplies over 50% of Elgi & Ingersoll Rand filtration needs
1990 - Ashra gains entry into many OEM businesses by
improving quality of filters & separators significantly
1991 - Ashra develops Air Filters & Oil Filters for Atlas Copco using
imported media and qualifies through
extensive R&D
1992 - Ashra supplies all of Elgi Air Filter varieties after proving performance & quality through product testing
1993 - Ashra starts developing AOS’s for Atlas Copco and begins supply of Series two separators after
extensive field testing
1995 - Ashra embarks on major Business Reengineering
1997 - Ashra develops plastisol filter for Telco after extensive testing and becomes first line certified supplier
for air filters
1998 - Ashra achieves milestone of supplying 100% of all filtration and separation needs of Elgi Equipments..
Number of filter suppliers reduced from 9 in 1993 to single source.
1999 - Ashra forms a technology arrangement with Keltec Inc., USA.
1999 - Ashra decides to apply for ISO 9001 and achieves certification. Audit conducted for Ashra by BVQI
2000 - QS 9000 achieved
2002 - Ashra begins development of Air, Oil filters, Air Oil Separators for Kirloskar Pneumatics Company Ltd.
2000-07 - Major expansion of capacity and introduction of new technologies and steady supplies to OEM’s
2008 - Ashra begins development of Hydraulic spin type filter with head casting for Mahindra & Mahindra
2009 - Ashra decides to apply for ISO 9001 and achieves certification. Audit conducted for Ashra by URS.
