Ashra was established by R. V. Ramachandran (Ex. Chairman and Managing Director Cummins India Ltd.) in 1982. Initially Ashra was supplying Oil, fuel and air filters to Cummins for all applications. By 1986, 100% of all Cummins OE business was being handled by Ashra.
In 1990 , the worldwide purchasing policy of Cummins Engines USA of sourcing Filters was extended to India as well and Ashra helped in the formation of Fleetguard in India . As a result Ashra had to relinquish Cummins business and has since then grown to become OEM suppliers to Atlas Copco , Elgi Equipments , Kirloskar Pneumatic, to name a few .
Ashra began developing products and services for various other businesses and is today an approved supplier to many large corporatons.Ashra is a growing company with young people. Ashra has its plants and R&D labs in Pune, which is one of India's most industrialized cities.
Ashra has been making high quality filters for 25+ years and uses the latest techniques available to make high quality filtration products. Ashra has technical relationships with large filter and component manufacturers in North America.
Ashra has its own research and development lab , which is approved by the National Accreditation Board of Laboratories. This lab works very closely with laboratories such as ARAI, Pune (Automotive Research Association of India) to ensure all of Ashra's products meet with SAE & ISO standards for filtration. Ashra's lab is the only one in the country, which is recognized by manufacturers such as Telco, Ashok Leyland, Cummins, etc. to do their testing.
Ashra's lab is able to do all test for air cleaners as per SAE J726, Oil filters as per HS 806 and fuel filters as per the relevant SAE and ISO standards.
Ashra is well known in the industry as a supplier of the highest quality products. Ashra is already certified as a QS 9000 / ISO 9001 company for the design and manufacture of all types of automotive and industrial filters and housings. Ashra is the only company with such qualifications in this scale of ndustry in India. Ashra will be glad to undertake any development, design and manufacturing activity in the filtration industry.

Ashra, since 2003, has been exporting their products to the United States of America and other countries with great success.
